The primary goal of TTFC is to accelerate the advancement of new Scouts, particularly those who join with little or no prior scouting experience.
The TTFC program cover essential skills like knot tying, first aid, fire building, compass and map reading, and basic camp cooking. See schedule to the left.
Instruction is provided through dedicated sessions, separate from regular troop meetings, or integrated into troop activities like campouts.
The program emphasizes practical application of skills, with opportunities for Scouts to practice and demonstrate proficiency under the guidance of experienced leaders.
New Scouts gain confidence, develop essential skills, and are better prepared for more advanced scouting activities and leadership opportunities. Troop Guides are required to assist in teaching skills to new Scouts as a part of their Position of Responsibility. Star Scouts have the opportunity to complete Life Scout requirement 6 by teaching the skills for specific rank requirements outlined in the Scout Handbook.
While the ranks must be earned in order (Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class), Scouts can work on requirements for multiple ranks concurrently, and TTFC helps streamline this process.
