Getting Started (New Scouts to Troop 52)

<note: this page is under construction>

Questions: Webelos and their Parents should reach out to the Patrol Assistant Scoutmasters for questions about Troop 52. You can find the ASMs listed in the patrols on Scoutbook.

Before your son crosses over to Troop 52, you can get started now with his and your application to Boy Scouts of America.

___________________________________________

  • Youth      application: Download, print, and complete the youth application.      Turn in the application to the Troop Registrar. Include his      dues payment (below).
  • Adult      application: We have found the involvement of parents in their      son's path through scouting to be essential. We strongly encourage at      least one adult from a scout's family to register with Troop 52.  Adult Registration Requirements: Download, print, and complete the adult application.      Turn in the application to the Troop Registrar Include      your dues payment (below).
  • Payment: write      a check to "BSA Troop 52" for the each of the following that      apply:
    • Youth       Dues $100
    • Adult       Dues $75

We will also accept Credit Cards at the crossover thru our website store using PayPal to troopbsa52@gmail.com anytime.

Parents and guardians who would like to participate in any Boy Scouts activity are required to attend the EIM (Ethics and Integrity in Ministry) Workshop and complete the BSA YPT (Youth Protection Training)

After you have completed your Adult Registration, you will be given access to the website. Go to Adult Registration Procedure here for step by step instructions.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Each Troop 52 member should download and review the Troop Guide in our Unit Documents. It is a treasure trove of information on how our Troop works. It is especially handy during your boy's first year.

The Camping MB Blue Card should be the first Blue Card your scout gets at his first meeting. He picks it up from the Advancement Coordinator and receives directions from the Advancement Coordinator.

Parents, if you ever have any question, find a uniformed adult (called a "Scouter"), and they will either answer your question, or direct you to someone who can. A roster of all our adult leaders can be found once you've registered with the troop.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tree of Responsibility

First-Year Scouts should look to the following fellow scouts for direction; these boy leaders are charged with managing or overseeing each patrol and it's members. A scout should always seek out assistance from his fellow scouts before going to an adult. In order of responsibility, they are:

  1. Patrol      Leader
  2. Troop      Guide
  3. Life      Scout
  4. ASPL -      Assistant Senior Patrol Leader assigned to patrol
  5. SPL -      Senior Patrol Leader

To get a rank advancement signed off your scout should go to in order: Life Scout or Assistant Scoutmaster.
