IMPORTANT: The national council has changed this process so please follow the instructions below carefully. Please note that only Scouts and adults who are currently registered with the Troop may recharter through this process. If you are a new Scout to Troop 52, please see the New Scout Information section.
Moving forward, families will be responsible for renewing their Scouts BSA annual membership by paying the national dues through the Scouting America website: https://my.scouting.org
Scouts are $85/year (+$15 if you want a Scout’s Life magazine subscription).
Adults are $65/year (+$15 if you want a Scout's Life magazine subscription).
Troop 52 dues are now a separate payment through the Store: https://troop52lakeway.us/store/ols/products/2025-troop-52-dues
Scouts are $25/year
Adults are $25/year
NOTE: if you are planning to pay with cash or check, please select the "Offline" option when checking out through the Troop Store and bring you cash/check to the Troop Treasurer - Raj Ganta at a Troop meeting.
For directions on renewing your membership and paying the National and Troop dues, please see the instructions in the forms section below.
Another required item associated with the renewal process is completing the required forms for Troop 52.
PLEASE NOTE: Adults will not be re-chartered if they do not have current BSA YPT and / or EIM training. “Current” means that training certificate should be valid through at least the early part of January, the following year. For example, a person whose YPT expires in December 2025 cannot recharter for 2025 with the unit without completing the training. If you do not have current BSA YPT or EIM training and pay dues we will NOT be able to refund these dues. Instructions are available below on how to complete or refresh your training. If you are not sure about the status of your YPT or EIM training, please contact the Troop Registrar - Brian Spears.
Adults planning to participate in Troop 52 campouts, activities or become an adult leader ("Scouter") in the Troop MUST HAVE up to date training per the following:
Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) workshop. The background check and workshop are mandated requirements by Emmaus Catholic Church (the Troop's sponsoring organization). To check your compliance or to register for a background check or workshop please visit https://www.virtusonline.org To verify that all profile information is up-to-date, and look at the Compliance Summary Box to view your most recent workshop/training date and background check date (both must be within 3 years to be compliant). After 3 years, a shorter "refresher workshop" will need to be taken and a new background check submitted. More detailed instructions can be found here: https://www.austindiocese.org/eim-instructions IMPORTANT NOTE: The BSA Adult Application cannot be signed-off and submitted to Scouting America until both online Catholic Diocese of Austin Volunteer Application and the EIM Workshop are completed.
BSA Youth Protection Training (YPT) course. This is an online training course which can be found at www.scouting.org on the Youth Protection page. Before taking the course you will need to create an account at My.Scouting.org (if you do not have one yet). This training must be maintained current by taking the course every two years and is required for anyone who participates in summer camps and certain other troop activities. After training completion you should print the certificate.
Troop 52 is privileged to have received Scholarship funding to help Scouts get outdoors and go camping. The funds come from an anonymous benefactor who strongly believes in the ideals of Scouting and the countless benefits it provides. The applicants for assistance should be in good standing with the Troop and be able to complete the following steps to be considered.
1) A written request detailing why the applicant is worthy of receiving financial support for this activity, written by the Scout.
2) A written statement of financial need from the scout's parent(s) or guardian The statement does not need to include specific information about income etc., just a higher level statement of inability to pay with any other justification the family wishes to provide.
In response to a formal request as described above, the scoutmaster, committee chair and chartered org rep will consider the request and information, and will make a recommendation to the full Committee as we think is appropriate (on an anonymous basis without revealing the identity of the requesting scout or family if anonymity is requested by the family). It will ultimately be up to the Committee to decide what if any support is provided and in what form or amount. The activities to be covered by this support are: Monthly campouts, High Adventure, and Summer Camp. Applications need to be made for every High Adventure and Summer Camp; one application is needed for Monthly camping and will be granted in 6 month increments.
