Traditional Treks

12, 9 or 7 days and nights

• Fees: Check with SIC but fees are dependent on activity selections for each Trek.
• Register: By crew
• Season: Summer
• Age: 14 or 13 and have completed 8th grade
• Crew Size: 8-12, including adult leadership
• Leadership: 2 adult leaders per crew required minimum, 4 adult leaders maximum
• Registration: October/November,
  18 months prior to trek with exceptions for 2022

Northern Tier is the premier Scouts BSA experience for canoeing and winter camping. We offer many different trek options for Scout troops and individuals seeking a high adventure opportunity. 

3 seasons 2 countries 1 adventure of a lifetime

Summer in North Americas Canoe Country is a time like no other. With lakes stretching as far as the eye can see, all connected through a large web of waterways, Scouts can travel effortlessly across them in specially designed tripping canoes. Completing short portages between waterways brings scouts from lake to lake as they explore the vast biodiversity of the Northern Boreal Forest unique to Northern Minnesota and Canada

Sea Base is a unique Scouting program that offers aquatics programs found nowhere else. Whether your interests lie in sailing, scuba diving, rustic camping on an undeveloped barrier island, fishing or a combination of all, this is the place for your Troop, Crew, Sea Ship or Explorer Post. Sea Base serves around 16,000 participants annually.

The Summit Bechtel Reserve (or “The Summit,” for short) is a unique Scouting facility with an expansive main property spanning over 10,000 acres. We offer a variety of Scouting adventures that are exclusive to our location. Nestled in the heart of West Virginia, The Summit is strategically positioned within an eight-hour drive of 60% of the US population. It’s the permanent home for Scouting America’s National Jamboree, but it’s more than just the Jamboree site. It’s a place where Scouts can learn, explore, and push themselves to the limit, fostering a sense of curiosity and eagerness to participate.
